Dead Leaf Mantis [Acanthops sp]; Pipeline Road, Soberania National Park, Panama. Trying to look inconspicuous. Would you know what it was before I told you. Great camoflage!

Burrowing Wolf Spider [Geolycosa sp] female withher brood on piggyback for protection resting on burrow entrance; Fremont County, CO Very discrete and if we weren’t looking closely, we would’t have seen this nest hole or its occupants.

Red-tailed Bumble Bees [Bombus ternarius] collecting pollen from sunflower; Fremont County, CO Climate change, pesticides and lost habitats are driving bees to extinction.

Monarch Butterflies [Danaus plexippus] gather for warmth during their winter migration, clustering on tree branches inside eucalyptus forest grove at Pismo Beach, CA
